Bracelet size chart and wrist calculator
A bracelet should be longer than your wrist. How much longer depends on how you like it to sit and how chunky it is.
Enter your wrist to get bracelet lengths for three fits.
How to measure your wrist
- Wrap a flexible tape, or a paper strip, around the wrist just below the wrist bone.
- Keep it flat and snug, not tight. Read the measurement (mark the paper and measure it on a ruler).
- Add the allowance for your fit, or use the calculator above.
Measuring a bracelet you already like? Lay it flat and measure end to end including the clasp. That total length is directly comparable to the numbers above.

Size labels vary by brand; the lengths are what matter.
Bangles are different
A solid bangle has no clasp, so it must pass over the widest part of your hand, not just the wrist. Use the bangle size chart instead.
Anklet sizes
Measure around the ankle above the ankle bone and add about 2.5 cm (1 in). Typical anklets run 23–25.5 cm (9–10 in); an extender chain lets one anklet fit a range.
Watch straps
The same wrist measurement works for watches. Most standard straps fit wrists of about 15–20 cm; for smaller or larger wrists look for a short or long strap, or have links removed from a bracelet.
Questions people ask
How do I measure my wrist for a bracelet?
Wrap a soft tape measure, or a strip of paper you then measure with a ruler, around the wrist just below the wrist bone, where a bracelet sits. Keep it snug but not tight. That is your wrist size, not your bracelet size.
How much should I add to my wrist size?
A common jeweler rule: add about 1.3 cm (½ in) for a snug fit, 2 cm (¾ in) for a comfortable fit, and 2.5 cm (1 in) for a loose fit. Chunky links and thick beads take up inside space, so add a little more for those.
What is the average bracelet size?
Many women's bracelets are sold at 7 in (17.8 cm) and many men's at 8 to 8.5 in (20–21.5 cm), because those suit common wrist sizes of around 6 and 7 inches with a comfortable allowance.
How do I size an anklet?
Measure around the ankle just above the ankle bone and add about 2.5 cm (1 in). Standard anklets are often 9 to 10 in (23–25.5 cm), usually with an extender.
